I’m a Louisiana native, born and raised, but always had a love for the Dallas Cowboys in my blood. Upon graduating from Louisiana Tech, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, I headed West, to the home of the Dallas Cowboys! Dallas was calling my name.
I earned Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M Commerce (TAMU-C) and am a licensed Certified Public Accounting (CPA) in Texas. I have been with my current employer for more than 19 years. My many years of professional experience has led me to become actively engaged with the TAMU-C in student mentorship. Sharing my knowledge with students, who are looking to transition to the professional world, has been a very rewarding experience.

I graduated from LaPoynor High School in 1968. I then moved to Dallas to find employment. After putting in a lot of applications, with no luck, I saw this ad in the paper for a school that not only would teach you how to use Business Machines, but would get you a job, after you completed the course. That sounded perfect for me, so I enrolled, and they sent me for my first job interview. My first 3 jobs were with local bakeries, but they kept getting sold or moving, so after that I decided I needed to do something else. A co-worker (from my first job) called me and said that Minyard Food Stores was looking for a Produce Clerk, and she had told Bob Minyard about me. I interviewed with him and went to work there the next day. I worked as a produce clerk for 10 years, then moved up to Produce Buyer, then Candy, then Grocery and finally to Health & Beauty Care Buyer. After my 29th anniversary, the company was sold, and the new owners down-sized, and at 55 years old, I was let go, and had to start over. I enrolled in school again for Medical Billing and Coding, and graduated w a 4.0 GPA, but could not get a job for lack of working experience. I finally went to work as a Medical Customer Service Representative until I turned 69. After the company was sold for the 3rd time, I decided I didn’t want to start over again.
January 23, 1996, I joined Lake Cities Charter Chapter of ABWA, and when it disbanded in 2006, I transferred to Charisma.
Since joining the organization, I have been President, Vice-President, Secretary,(chapters and DACA) and Treasurer 3 times. I have been Woman of the Year for both chapters. The committees that I have been on were Membership, Fund-raising, Audit, Strut, Registration, Woman of the Year, (at least 20 times), National Convention delegate, and volunteer. I am a member of the Inner Circle with 11 new members sponsored.
I have continuing education credits (not sure how many) and perfect attendance nearly every year since becoming a member.
